A Fresh Start, Every Day
There are mornings when the weight of yesterday follows us into today. Mistakes we've made, words we wish we could take back, moments where we fell short of who God has called us to be. And yet — the sun rises again. Not by accident, but by the faithfulness of a God whose mercy is not rationed.
The prophet Jeremiah wrote Lamentations in the middle of devastation. Jerusalem had fallen. The people were in exile. And yet, even in the rubble, he found reason to declare: God's compassions never fail.
That is the nature of grace.
Grace: Unearned, Unstoppable
"But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, 'GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.'"

Grace is not a reward for good behavior — it is a gift from a God who sees us fully and loves us anyway. We don't earn it on our best days, and we don't lose it on our worst. It flows from the character of God Himself, not from the consistency of our performance.

Mercy: What We Don't Deserve
"He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regenerating and renewing by the Holy Spirit."

Mercy is God withholding the judgment we deserve. Grace is God giving us the blessing we don't deserve. Together, they form the foundation of our relationship with Him — not built on our worthiness, but on His character.
A Wednesday Reflection
Midweek can feel like a valley — the energy of Monday's fresh start has faded, and the weekend still feels far away. But Wednesday is also the perfect place to pause and remember: God's mercy meets you right here, in the middle.
You don't have to wait until you've "gotten it together" to come to Him. His compassions are new every morning — and this morning is no exception.
Prayer
Lord, thank You that Your mercy is not dependent on my performance. Thank You that Your grace covers every gap, every failure, every moment I fall short. Help me to receive Your love today — not just know it in my head, but feel it in my heart. Let Your mercy and grace overflow from my life into the lives of those around me. To Your glory alone. Amen.

Take a moment today to write down one area of your life where you need to receive God's mercy — not fix it, not earn it, just receive it. Then rest in Lamentations 3:22–23, knowing His compassions are new for you today.
